I can't seem to get the E170 autoland to work - I think I have everything configured properly and my display shows APPR2 active, with "FLARE" and "ALIGN" armed (white), but I never see a transition to an active "AUTOLAND" on the display, nor does the autopilot even seem to attempt a flare on landing. What am I missing? The docs are silent on the subject of preconditions to activate autoland, but elsewhere various E170 docs suggest setting NAV1 & NAV2 to the ILS frequency, setting the CRS indicator to the runway heading, flaps 5, gear down - RA minimums above 80 feet (I used 100 ft...). Elsewhere they add that the primary and secondary (left/right) displays should be set to LOC1/LOC2 respectively, but I haven't tried that (yet). Any help appreciated!
You will find Autoland description in SSG E-jets Quick Start Guide (page 54, on the bottom). What can I say from my experience: as far as I remember there is no information "AUTOLAND" to appear. You should stay established on ILS approach with AP and A/T engaged. When RETARD is illuminated on green, set your throttles on IDLE position. The aircraft will autoland, but be aware, it will be rather hard landing (app. 450fpm). Therefore, if I'm not forced by weather conditions, I always prefer manual landing. Good luck! ;-)
